Top 6 movies with best special effects

#1: Avatar

Untitled on emaze

Directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron, and starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sigourney Weaver, this movie involves a mission by Earth’s military forces, in the year 2154, to a moon in orbit around a star in the Alpha Centauri star system, called Pandora. This new, exciting and mysterious world is a gold mine containing a mineral Earth desperately needs. Failing diplomacy with the Na’Vi, the military forces are obligated to strike and get the Unobatnium (that special minera) through fire and destruction. A love but dramatic story between the main characters, Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) is one of the most influential factors from the movie.

According to the director James Cameron, they had been delayed since the 1990s due to lack of advancements in technology and visual effects techniques, the ones he envisioned for this incredible film and ultimately one of the biggest movies of all times. The director planned to make use of photorealistic computer-generated characters, for which avatar’s crew used a motion capture technology which James had been developing in the 14 months leading up to December 2006.

Having a budget of $237 million, it has raised more than $2.000 billion. It was premiered in London on December 10, 2009, and released worldwide from December 16. It was originally set for release on May 22, 2009 but was pushed back to entirely finish the movie (some post-production scenes weren’t finished yet), and to give more time for 3D installation in theaters worldwide.

“I don’t use film cameras. I don’t do visual effects the same way. We don’t use miniature models; it’s all CG now, creating worlds in CG. It’s a completely different toolset. But the rules of storytelling are the same.” James Cameron
